Welcome to Everest:
A Higher Learning Experience

This website will serve as a technology interface to Ben Webster’s 2004 Everest Expedition. This site has been developed and maintained by Algonquin College.

Algonquin College has been recognized as one of Canada’s best student-centred Colleges for many years. This was confirmed in April 2004 when Algonquin College retained its #1 ranking as the top college in Ontario for Student Satisfaction.

The 2004 Everest Expedition, led by Canadian Ben Webster, is developing a 6 hour documentary that will present Mt. Everest to people around the world in a way that it has never been seen. The Discovery Channel documentary will follow the progress of an internationally recognized group of mountaineers and will be viewed on Discovery Channel in the fall of 2004.

Consistent with the technology intensive nature of the project, Ben Webster required a world class organization to develop a technology-enhanced website to enable people around the world to follow the progress of the 2004 Everest Expedition. Ben chose Algonquin College to meet this mandate. Upon the selection of Algonquin College, Ben stated:

"I chose Algonquin College because it is a leader in the integration of technology into the learning environment. This expedition has a unique blend of technology, education and science and I believe Algonquin College has the people, technology and partners to deliver the results I need and expect."

Join Algonquin College, its staff and students as we provide the interface for one of the most technologically advanced expeditions to ever go to Mt. Everest.
